The listed old hydropower plant Töging a. Inn of Verbund Innkraftwerke GmbH, is about to undergo a significant change. It is to be converted into an administration building and workshops, and in the course of this the necessary renovation measures will be carried out.

As a listed building, the Töging a.Inn hydroelectric power station is an important cultural heritage site. The transformation must therefore be carried out with great sensitivity in order to preserve the architectural features of the building and at the same time meet the requirements of a sustainable future.
For the investigations into the conversion or renovation of the powerhouse and switchgear building, various digital data were obtained and made available for use. For the planning, an architectural competition was held in the run-up to the project, in which the firm Florian Nagler Architekten was awarded the contract.

The company Vokal+Partner carried out the measurement of the buildings. 3D laser scanning technology was used to record precise and detailed measurement data, which served as a basis for further planning and enabled an exact representation of the existing condition.
Parallel to the geometric survey, a visual survey was carried out in which the power plant was photographically documented in 360°. This photographic documentation serves as an additional source of information and provides the project participants with a visual insight into the power plant. The images are made accessible via a web viewer to facilitate communication and collaboration between the various parties.

The task of creating the 3D building model in the Revit software was taken on by the MAPINDOOR company. A digital 3D model of the power plant was created based on the recorded survey data and the visual information.

By using the digital data sources and the cooperation of the companies involved, it was possible to obtain precise information about the existing condition of the hydropower plant. This data enables efficient and precise planning, serves to coordinate the construction measures among the project participants and plays an important role in the creation of comprehensive building documentation.

This serves not only for planning and coordination during the conversion, but also for the long-term preservation and documentation of the listed building. Digital models and documentation facilitate future maintenance, servicing and further possible conversions of the power plant.

A big thank you to all involved for the good and successful cooperation.
